Enter my latest drink obsession- RANCH WATER COCKTAIL!

First of all, if you’re unfamiliar, there is no “ranch” dressing or ranch flavoring in this cocktail, so do not worry!

This incredible drink is named for Texas Rancher’s. It originates from cattle ranchers enjoying this refreshing beverage after a long days work. Traditionally speaking a true Ranch Water Cocktail is made from Tequila Blanco, Topo Chico mineral water, and fresh lime juice and wedges. The specific brand Topo Chico has to be used to make this a traditional Ranch Water. If other sparkling waters or mineral waters are used then it’s just called a Tequila Soda.

I had my first Ranch Water just a few weeks ago and haven’t been able to stop craving them on the weekends! I tried using Lime Spindrift and let me just stop you right there, I went straight out to purchase the real deal, Topo Chico, and it was necessary. Lime Spindrift (which I love on it’s own) was just not IT, ya know?

There are so many variations on Ranch Water and what you can do to make it your own, the options are truly endless.

In our version we’re using lime AND lemon wedges.
And we’re even adding some jalapeno for a spicy Ranch Water if you’re into that. We definitely are!

Ranch Water is typically more of a savory sparkling beverage. It’s absolutely delicious with the combination of fizzy water and fresh squeezed lime. Adding fresh squeezed lemon into the drink adds a new taste level and a slightly sweeter element then just a puckery lime flavor. If you love tequila or margaritas, this can be your new Summer drink!

Other variations on Ranch Water can include pineapple juice for more added sweetness, recommend this 100% (might be my favorite version yet), a splash of sour mix, grapefruit juice for a paloma like influence, and even a splash of simple syrup or agave nectar.

When you’re making your cocktail, you can make it however you want.
We’re not the Ranch Water police and we. will. not. judge!

My best version thus far has been making it in the Topo Chico bottle with some pineapple juice.

RANCH WATER COCKTAIL

Ingredients

  • 2 OZ TEQUILA BLANCO
  • 4 OZ TOPO CHICO
  • 2 LIME WEDGES
  • 1-2 LEMON WEDGES
  • TAJIN + SEA SALT FOR THE RIM
  • 3 COINS JALAPENO, SLICED OPTIONAL
  • 2 OZ PINEAPPLE JUICE OPTIONAL

Instructions

ORIGINAL

  • POUR 2 OZ TEQUILA INTO A TALL GLASS WITH ICE.
  • SQUEEZE 2 LIME WEDGES + 1-2 LEMON WEDGES INTO GLASS.
  • TOP WITH 4 OUNCES TOPO CHICO AND MIX LIGHTLY.

PINEAPPLE

  • POUR OUT 4 OZ FROM A CHILLED TOPO CHICO BOTTLE, SET ASIDE.
  • ADD 2 OZ TEQUILA AND 2 OZ PINEAPPLE JUICE TO THE BOTTLE.
  • SQUEEZE 1 LIME WEDGE INTO BOTTLE AND DROP INSIDE.

JALAPENO

  • USING A LIME WEDGE, RUN IT ALONG HALF OF THE EDGE OF A TALL GLASS, DIP RIM INTO A 1:1 MIXTURE OF TAJIN AND CHUNKY SEA SALT, FILL WITH ICE.
  • MUDDLE 3 COINS OF JALAPENO IN A COCKTAIL SHAKER.
  • ADD ICE AND POUR IN 2 OZ TEQUILA.
  • SQUEEZE 2 LIME WEDGES AND 1-2 LEMON WEDGES INTO SHAKER.
  • SHAKE ALL TOGETHER AND STRAIN INTO GLASS WITH TAJIN / SEA SALT RIM.
  • POUR IN 4 OZ TOPO CHICO, STIR LIGHTLY.
