NC STATE FAIR 2015
Last year AU and I checked out the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston Salem. We walked through rain the entire time and ate our way through the fair, then left soaking wet and freezing.
If you know anything about us, it’s all about the food.
This year, the NC State Fair was graced with our presence, so lucky. And we both agreed, it really beat out the little fair in Winston. In AU’s words not only “the food but the whole scope of it as well”. And I tend to agree.
I wanted to share with you what we ate and where.
First up is of course the appetizer, why would it not be? You have to do these things in order.
And by appetizer I mean French Fries @ Al’s Fries (with vinegar).
This is one of AU’s absolute favorite stops. The fries are crispy and super hot! Then he douses them in vinegar through a spray bottle (yes!) and we dunked them in ketchup.
Some of the best fries right here. By the way Dair-o has the best fries in the world, in my opinion- off topic but whatevs.
We kinda got out of order on this next one, but you’ll see why….
Chocolate Covered Bacon on a stick @ Bubba’s Grub
AU walked past this stand and just could not resist, it was either the Chocolate Covered Bacon on a stick or 1/4 pound of bacon on a stick.
It was super chocolate-y and we weren’t even sure if there was actually bacon in there, but there was.
Next it was time for a little sandwich.
We couldn’t not stop at Cary United Methodist Church for Ham Biscuits!
This biscuit was super salty and I really wanted some ketchup but I survived without it. I love ketchup on anything, always have, always will.
Next up were Pimento Cheese Wontons @ Woody’s.
We unfortuantley were not impressed with these, they lacked flavor and just tasted fried and bland. What a let down after reading this article that encouraged we try them out.
Next we were ready to satisfy our sweet tooth cravings.
And AU had been talking about this all day.
Deep Fried Snickers @ a Deep Fried Candy Bar booth
All AU could do was smile and chew, no words for this deliciousness.
I had to get the Deep Fried Pecan Pie @ name unknown, whoops. It was near the ham biscuit place.
I was so impressed as I started on the front of it and then as I got to the middle the pie was cold, gross.
Last NC State Fair’s fried pecan pie was much better and I went to the same place!
We went with our friend Rhian, and all she could say after the first 30 minutes of AU and I running around trying to get all the food was
“Guys, it’s not all about the food”.
She clearly doesn’t get it.
The Fair is ALL about the food in AU’s and my eyes.
This was not food related!! Oh just kidding, it was all vegetables. But we didn’t eat anything at this part of the Fair.

Needless to say my favorite thing was probably Al’s Fries with vinegar. You just can’t beat that.
One of the main reasons we went to the Fair besides the food was to see Nantucket close down the NC State Fair 2015.
It was so awesome to see and they clearly had a blast with everyone standing in front of the stage rocking out.
As we walked out we had to stop and get a Chocolate Milkshake @ The Howling Cow, represent NC STATE!
Cause, why not?
We drank it so fast, no picture was taken.
