NASHELORETTE IN NASHVILLE, TN
This past weekend was spent in Nashville, Tennessee living it up for my best friends Bachelorette Party.
It was an incredible weekend full of laughter, tons of fun, good times, lots of drinking, and delicious food. And below this is all the food I was lucky enough to enjoy.
The trip started on Friday and 3 of my friends and I took the day off work to head there early. First was getting to Downtown Nashville and finding somewhere to eat. I don’t think we realized Nashville would be so busy this weekend but Music City was popping with lots of people and even more Bachelorette Parties. My friend Rhi stated that at least 3 in 5 groups of people were on their Bachelorette Party. Not kidding.
We wandered into The Stillery as our first stop for food. It is a restaurant that makes their own moonshine! They had plenty of cocktails with moonshine in them, but what did all four of us do? We ordered the same cocktail without moonshine but with whisky. The Strawberry Rye cocktail was full of real strawberries and was so refreshing with how hot the day was turning out to be.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was cool and casual with these huge windows that opened up onto the street. It was so amazing to be in Nashville and hear live music every where you went. I loved that we could hear a local guy singing as we enjoyed our food.
I ordered Catfish and Chips for lunch and it was crunchy, light, and flavorful. I was so in the mood for fish and chips as I normally don’t gravitate towards that as a meal. Rhi ordered Hot Chicken over mac n cheese (don’t worry we will get to that and Hot Chicken below), while Jen and Blair opted for a topped “pie” pizza which looked scrumptious.
The next day we popped into Margaritaville for lunch. The bride, Amanda, tries to go to every Margaritaville every time she travels and we were happy to help her with that!
I ordered a Fried Chicken Cobb Salad and I have to say I believe it was the best salad I have ever had. It was full of fresh ingredients and was served with honey mustard instead of ranch, which I thought was an interesting twist I had never tried. The salad was topped with sliced avocado, blue cheese, hard boiled egg, cherry tomatoes, and bacon. And don’t forget the breaded flavorful chicken on top. Needless to say I scarfed it down and got some veggies in.
We had to fit brunchin’ into our schedule. There is always time for brunch.
We brunched at a cute little place in the Gulch area, City Fire. The table we sat at had a private curtain and the vibe was very relaxed and welcoming. Did I mention bottomless mimosas were only $10. Maybe you should stop there if you’re ever in Nashville. I chose the Garden Omelet, I was really feeling liked I needed some vegetables at this point. It was filled with chopped green and red peppers, mushrooms, and spinach. It was covered with a velvety cheese sauce and served with the absolute best tasting spicy grits I have ever had. The cheddar grits had this smooth texture but were not full of liquid and had pimentos here and there. I loved every minute of those grits and I’m not a girts girl. That’s the one southern thing that has not converted me yet.
Nachos are my absolute favorite, I can never get enough of them. I like them with all the toppings including black beans, tomatoes, jalapenos, red onion, cilantro, cheese, chicken, and guacamole. And then I have to dip them in sour cream and salsa. DUH.
But these Loaded Brewery Nachos right here hit the spot for a late dinner and the flavors combined together were literally mouth watering. We stopped into Rock Bottom Brewery for this meal. And yes this was all for me but no I did not finish them ;). This girl can eat though.
My last and final meal in Nashville was the Hot Chicken I mentioned earlier. North Carolina, why do you not have Hot Chicken because it is incredible. More than a chicken tender, chicken wing, and fried chicken combined. This Hot Chicken was literally the best thing I ate all weekend, oh and did I mention it was on top of creamy saucy mac n cheese? Just another one of my favs too.
This Hot Chicken over macaroni and cheese comes to you from The Stillery mentioned above (yes we went there twice). We did it for the chicken. Don’t judge. Any restaurant that gets me to go back again in one weekend is ranked high in my list of places to eat.
Let me give you a little info on Hot Chicken; it is a lightly breaded chicken breast, fried golden and crispy (not heavy) and then tossed in spices and homemade hot sauce. HOOLLLLAA. Seriously, it was the best as the spicy chicken slightly burned my mouth the creamy cheese sauce cooled it down. At this particular restaurant you can get Hot Chicken on a salad (I was almost sold), Hot Chicken over macaroni and cheese, Hot Chicken and fries, and lastly Hot Chicken on sandwich.
Get yourself some Hot Chicken.
If you ever make a trip to Nashville, add these places to your list. I recommend The Stillery first and foremost, obviously for the picture directly above!
