INSTANT POT BBQ RIBS
Summertime and the living’s easy so it’s time for Instant Pot BBQ Ribs.
AKA Summer in a pot.
This heat has been unbearable lately and the last thing you want to do is fire up the grill and make some hot BBQ ribs.
BUT! You don’t have to suffer in Summer without ribs when you can make these Instant Pot BBQ Ribs any night of the week. These ribs are tender, smoky, juicy and did I mention cooked in literally twenty minutes?
And then they’re covered in sweet sticky BBQ sauce and broiled until bubbly and caramelized. These ribs are top notch and require minimal effort but give maximum, delicious flavor.
A quick dry spice rub is made and applied to the ribs to give even more flavor. A simple combination of spices can do so much for a rack of pork.
They taste like you actually fired up the grill, and labored over them. That’s just so unnecessary now with an Instant Pot! And don’t let ribs limit you just to the Summer season, ribs for everyone all year round.
You can even cook two racks of ribs at once in your Instant Pot.
INSTANT POT BBQ RIBS
Notes
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE MEMBRANE ON THE BACK OF THE RIBS, IT JUST MAKES THEM MORE TENDER
Ingredients
- 1 TABLESPOON BROWN SUGAR
- 1 TABLESPOON DRY MUSTARD
- 1 TABLESPOON PAPRIKA
- 1 TEASPOON GARLIC POWDER
- 1 TEASPOON ONION POWDER
- 1 TEASPOON SMOKED SALT
- 1 TEASPOON BLACK PEPPER, GROUND
- 1/2 TEASPOON CAYENNE PEPPER
- 2 RACKS BABY BACK PORK RIBS
- BBQ SAUCE
- LIQUID SMOKE (OPTIONAL)
Instructions
- COMBINE ALL SPICES TO MAKE THE RUB, SET ASIDE
- REMOVE THE MEMBRANE FROM THE RIBS: FLIP THE RIBS MEAT SIDE DOWN
- USING A BUTTER KNIFE, SLIDE THE KNIFE UNDER THE THIN SEE THROUGH MEMBRANE, START IN THE CENTER
- ONCE A FEW INCHES ARE PULLED UP, USE YOUR HANDS TO PULL OFF THE BACK, GRAB A PAPER TOWEL IF IT’S TOO SLIPPERY, THEN DISCARD
- SPRINKLE SPICES EVENLY ON RIBS AND GENTLY RUB INTO THE MEAT
- PLACE WIRE BASKET INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE INSTANT POT
- POUR 1 CUP OF WATER INTO THE BOTTOM AND ADD 6-8 DASHES OF LIQUID SMOKE
- PLACE ONE RACK OF RIBS IN THE INSTANT POT ON THE OUTSIDE BY GENTLY COILING THEM
- PLACE THE SECOND RACK OF RIBS IN THE INNER PART OF THE INSTANT POT BY GENTLY COILING THEM
- SEAL INSTANT POT LID, MAKE SURE PRESSURE VALVE IS SEALED AND CLICK “HIGH PRESSURE”
- SET TIMER TO 20 MINUTES (SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO COME TO PRESSURE)
- QUICK RELEASE THE PRESSURE VALVE WHEN TIME IS UP BY TURNING PRESSURE VALVE TOWARDS YOU WITH THE BACK OF A WOODEN SPOON (BE CAREFUL)
- USING TONGS GENTLY REMOVE RACKS OF RIBS
- PLACE MEAT SIDE DOWN ON A FOIL LINED BAKING SHEET
- BRUSH BBQ SAUCE ON BACKSIDE OF RIBS, BROIL 2-5 MINUTES WHILE WATCHING CLOSELY
- FLIP RIBS OVER WITH TONGS AND BRUSH TOP WITH BBQ SAUCE, BROIL 2-5 MINUTES WHILE WATCHING CLOSELY
- REMOVE AND SLICE INTO RIBS
- COVER WITH MORE BBQ SAUCE & EAT THEM WITH YOUR HANDS!
We love how easy these Instant Pot Ribs are and we can’t get enough this season. Serve these with mac n cheese, corn on the cob, and sweet watermelon for a real summertime meal.
