HONEY BEER BREAD

I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving shared with friends and family! I relaxed, ate 7 roast potatoes, and felt like I was literally going to pop all day on Thanksgiving. But the gravy, turkey, and potatoes that I thoroughly enjoyed, were to die for.

As the weekend went on, my sister Cara decided to grace us with a delicious bread one morning. So I need to thank her for her recipe and inspiration for this blog post!

This bread is made from honey and beer. A whole bottle or can of beer goes into this bread and it bakes with a delicious flavor. Don’t worry the alcohol is not overpowering!

There are minimal ingredients and it’s best served straight of the oven! The bread starts with melted butter and is covered in melted butter. It creates a crunchy, sweet texture topping and is mouth watering! The best part is that the top and bottom of the bread are both crunchy but the center is soft and moist (ew gross word). But true.

Two utensils are required: a whisk and a wooden spoon. It’s easy, simple, and fast. Just prepare to bake the bread for almost an hour (that’s the long part). But while it bakes you don’t even have to watch it or do anything!

You can see the butter poured on top of the batter (pictured above).

ingredients:
1 12 ounce beer, can or bottle (I used hefeweizen- Shotgun Betty)
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons honey

directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Line a 9×5″ loaf pan with parchment paper, spray with spray & cook
3. Mix flour, salt, and baking powder with a whisk in a medium sized bowl
4. Pour in beer and honey, mix with a wooden spoon
5. Pour half the melted butter into the bottom of the pan
6. Cover butter with all of the batter
7. Pour remaining butter on top
8. Bake for 45 minutes until knife or pointed object (a fork) comes out clean
9. Don’t bake over 60 minutes if needed

I used a metal loaf pan. Glass pans are just as perfect, either one works well. I checked my bread at 45 minutes and it was already finished. Depending on your oven you may want to check the bread earlier. The original recipe from Pinterest says to bake it 50-60 minutes. Adjust accordingly.

You can see the brown/black parts at the bottom of my bread. This is the crispy heaven parts I was talking about earlier!

As for what to eat this with…

Cover it in more butter, try it with with shredded sharp cheddar (how mine was enjoyed). Top it with jam and fresh whipped cream for a sweeter option. Spread Nutella or honey on top. Top with fresh fruit, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.

As you can tell the options are endless. It can go savory or sweet.

I believe this recipe originated from a pound cake, that’s why it’s so damn delish.

As always please enjoy and comment for any questions!
