GRILLED PEACHES
mhmm grilled fruit.
This “grilled” fruit was grilled using the oven. I believe that the original recipe uses an actual outdoor grill but however you can substitute. At least I did. And trust me the flavors would not differ that much depending on the heat base you prefer.
You need to find some really nice well grown peaches. It’s is an important part in the dessert. Duh! It’s the main ingredient!
I cut my peaches in half and grilled them on tinfoil on hi. The cool part about actually doing this inside is that the house has an amazing aroma. It smells warm and inviting and it smells like fresh peaches. You can’t beat that combination.
The point of this dessert is not only that its healthier than most but it’s light and incredible. It makes it suitable for a hot summers night. Or any night you feel in the mood for some peaches. What is it about that feeling of a warmed dessert that melts in your mouth. It’s warm and hot from the oven and the heat soothes your throat. I don’t know what it is but I love it.
The other “cool” thing (I think its really cool) about this dessert is the cream add on to the peaches. It’s made from sour cream, yep I said it. That savory cream used in savory dishes, well not this one. This time it’s mixed with dark brown sugar (my best best, made from molasses I think) and its divine.
First the peaches have to be brushed with melted butter on both sides, anyone can do this, its simple! Next roast on each side until browning and blackening begins.
While the peaches are roasting mix the cream sauce, mix in the dark brown sugar to the sour cream. This sugar has the best flavoring so I chose it instead of the recipes instructions to use light brown sugar.
ingredients
2 peaches, cut in half
Melted butter for brushing
1/2 cup light sour cream
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
Amaretto or ginger cookies, crumbled
instructions
As stated above:
1. Cut peaches in half, remove pits
2. Brush each side well with melted butter, make sure to get butter inside the peach hole
3. Grill in the oven on high broil on tinfoil
4. Flip over and grill the other side
5. Mix the sauce while peaches are grilling
6. Remove peaches, start with the peach in a bowl, top with sour cream sauce and crumbled cookies
