FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL

Two Fridays ago, AU and I attended the Burke Street Food Truck Festival in Winston Salem.
We bundled up in gloves and warm sweaters and headed out in the cold to try and taste as many Food Trucks as we could.

In the two hours we were there we were able to try 4 Food Trucks one of them twice.
The food was awesome, tasty, and so worth braving the cold for.

60 food trucks showed up to the event and they were lined from Burke Street to 4th Street and it was bom dot com.

We first arrived and thought BEERS.
Once we had beers in our hands we figured we would walk the line and stalk out what looked good.
Well it all looked good and the lines were ridiculously long. So immediately we agreed we needed to get an appetizer.

First up was Fire Fries from Route Bistro.

Fire Fries: Fries with homemade red chili sauce, chipotle, tabasco, sriracha, texas sauce, jalapeno, cheese and argentine sausage.

They were hottttttt! So hot hot hot. They burned my mouth but they were so tasty.
AU had to finish them off.

Next we were onto something else.
We spotted this Korean food truck and I have been dying to try something along the lines of Bibimbop.

We immediately got on board with this super long line and jumped in to join everyone else at Urban Street Grill.

The line was so long that we decided we could get another appetizer at the truck we were inline with.
It looked yum and seemed like it was meant to be.

We ordered Crab Rangoon Croquettes at Buddhalicious.

Crab Rangoon Croquettes: Chef’s special recreation of the classic appetizer.

They were so light and crispy, nicely fried not too much but just enough and they were round sweet cream cheese balls stuffed with crab.

It was the perfect snack while we waited for Korean… and then I deleted the picture.

OOPS!

When we FINALLY reached the front of the line we had changed our order about a dozen times.

We settled on a Ginger Chicken Taco from Urban Street Grill.

Ginger Chicken Taco: Ginger chicken with tomatillo salsa, served with sesame soy lettuce and cabbage mix, cilantro and lime marinated onions.

This taco was so flavorful and I love a good corn tortilla taco.

We couldn’t get just one taco so we ordered a rice bowl as well.

Ribeye Bulgogi and Salsa Roja Rice Bowl was our “main meal” for the night.

Ribeye Bulgogi and Salsa Roja Rice Bowl: served with Kimchi fried rice, house pickled red onions, avocado, over easy fried egg, and garnished with cilantro, green onion and radish.

Woah this rice bowl was epic. It had all the right flavors going on and it was like a party in my mouth.
It was creamy, the beef was slightly sweet and had been marinated, the rice was the perfect amount of salty to counteract the beef,
the avocado was the most delicious add on, and the over easy egg (once we broke it all up with our plastic forks) was so flavorful as it oozed all over the beef and rice. Oh and the fresh squeezed lime on top was the icing on this rice bowl cake.

I have to say this was my favorite of the night and if the lines hadn’t been longer than when we first got in them
we would of grabbed another beer and saddled up for another rice bowl.

Now it was dessert time, and if you know me that’s a necessity almost every day and night.
AU knows it.

We walked the whole strip looking for dessert options, we found a ton of places that had cakes but I wanted something else

We found ourselves back at Buddhalicious for their Nutella Fried Wontons I had seen for an hour while we waited for our korean bbq food.

Nutella Fried Wonntons: nutella stuffed wontons, fried, and dusted in powdered sugar.

And lastly AU found a Chocolate Chocolate Cupcake at Sweet Traditions.

At this point I was so full I felt sick so I passed on the cupcake.

What. A. Mistake.

It was perfect, homemade but not too homemade and the chocolate icing was decadent.

I helped AU scarf it down as we waited for our Uber.

Once the sun dropped it started getting really freezing and we were out of there.

I LOVE good food truck food.
