DIY EMBELLISHED SANDALS
I’ve been eyeing a certain fashion trend lately and I have been scouring the stores and internet looking for my very own pair. I have been looking for a pair of embellished sandals with huge diamonds on them to call my own.
I first saw this pair here, but let’s just be real for a second… those retail at like $500 and this girl right here, yeah, she is on a budget (a big BIG budget).
After coming to terms with having a meager budget I mentioned earlier, I have been trying to find a reasonably priced pair. I had a very specific image in my head of what I wanted and a small price tag that went along with that too.
After a lot of searching, I came to terms with the fact that I just was not going to find a pair that I could afford and that I loved at the same time.
I then came across a diy version of these embellished sandals and I thought what the hell, I’m creative AND I’m a diy’er so I’ll give it a go. And trust me, that was an excellent decision.
First I found a cheap-ish pair of black sandals at target here (they also come in cognac if you would like).
Second, I took myself to Hancock’s fabric where I found some flat gems and bought some E600 glue.
The process of making these beauties was very easy:
1. Place your gems on your sandals to measure out how many you want to use. I used 5 on each sandal.
2. Pour some glue onto a paper plate or surface (I used the back of the gem box)
3. Use a wooden skewer and dip it in glue and apply a small amount to the back of the gems
4. Press each gem to the sandal one at a time and hold for 20 seconds (it will move so hold it steady)
5. Let it dry over night and DONE!
These sandals are literally so easy to make. I love how mine turned out. It took a little bit of patience to hold the gems but it was literally the easiest diy project ever.
I chose black sandals because I only have neutral or cognac ones (yes I didn’t have one black pair of sandals before these). But I almost want to buy another neutral pair and do it all over again.
As you can see my gems are sturdy as ever and look so pretty in the sun.
I paired mine with leather shorts, a ruffle tank, and my new white lace kimono (or as my dad calls it, my pool gown)!
If you have any questions about this diy don’t hesitate to ask.
Enjoy your brand new embellished sandals!
