CREAMY CARAMELIZED ONION DIP
The obsession with onion dips lately has been absolutely unbelievably unreal.
Think sweet, absolutely super creamy, tangy, vibrant, bright, savory, salty all scooped on a super crunchy salty wavy chip.
Heaven, is that you?!
Is there a better way to enjoy onions that aren’t caramelized? I don’t think it’s possible.
Caramelized Onions on a smash burger? – superior;
On a naoplean style fresh mozzarella pizza? – unreal;
On a french dip cheesy provolone sandwich? – yes please;
On a carne asada taco with salsas and cheese – absolutely!;
On bangers and mashed potatoes with a brown gravy? – need this right now.
The flavoring from caramelizing onions until brown and soft and utterly sweet and savory is one of my favorite things.
AND it could not be easier to make them for this incredible dip.
This Creamy Caramelized Onion Dip has powerful flavors and the ingredient list packs a fanstatic punch!
The chopped onions are caramelized in a combination of olive oil and butter until buttery and so delectable. The dip base is made from greek yogurt for extra protein, sweet Kewpie mayonnaise, and sour cream for that traditional onion dip flavor. Additional ingredients to brighten the dish include miso paste, fresh lemon juice, worcestershire, sauteed garlic, paprika, chunky sea salt, and minced dried onions.
I love this dip served with wavy chips the most but it’s just as fantastic on top of toasted baguette slices, veggie sticks, or even crackers. It’s a definite crowd pleaser no matter what!

- DO I HAVE TO USE KEWPIE MAYONNAISE?
Nope! Kewpie mayonnaise works really wonderfully with miso paste but regular mayonnaise will be just as good!
2. DO I HAVE TO CARAMELIZE THE ONIONS FOR THAT LONG?
It is definitely reccomended to get the softest onions and the deep flavor from browning and to technically “caramelize” the onions the right way. So, yes!
3. ARE THE FRESH CHIVES WORTH IT?
I think so! But I am also a huge fan of freeze dried chives, too!
Much love,
