COPYCAT PF CHANG’S MONGOLIAN BEEF
I had the Mongolian Beef at PF Chang’s for the first time in my life this year and there was no turning back.
Yes this is a true statement!
Immediately, I knew I had to find a way to have it at home and then I found this Copycat PF Chang’s Mongolian Beef recipe and all my prayers were answered!
Perfectly spicy, sweet, and saucy; this Copycat PF Chang’s Mongolian Beef makes you feel like you’re right in the restaurant and chowing down.
Except this one MIGHT be better and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper.
And if we’re being honest, less salty and definitely healthier.
Sliced stir fry steak is used (for ease and laziness), then tossed in cornstarch before it’s slightly fried and covered in sticky, sweet, spicy sauce.
This recipe is so so easy and so fast, it all comes together in less than 10 minutes but feels like a meal you put a lot of time and love into.
Aren’t those the best kind?!?!
Served over the absolute perfect Instant Pot White Rice and garnished with long sliced green onions, this dish is a win for everyone involved.
Even the pickiest eaters!
It’s super easy to throw a stir fry veggie in there as well; like red peppers, sugar snap peas or even broccoli.
I really can’t get over how delicious all of these flavors are in combination and want to basically eat this every day of my life.

Ingredients
- 1.5 LBS STIR FRY STEAK, SHOULD ALREADY BE SLICED THINLY (OR FLANK STEAK, SLICED THINLY)
- 2 TEASPOONS FRESH GINGER, MINCED FINELY
- 1 HEAPED TABLESPOON GARLIC, MINCED
- 1 TABLESPOON VEGGIE OIL
- 1/2 CUP SOY SAUCE, LIGHT
- 1/2 CUP WATER
- 3/4 CUP BROWN SUGAR, LIGHT OR DARK
- 1 CUP VEGGIE OIL
- 1/2 CUP CORNSTARCH
- RED PEPPER FLAKES
- GREEN ONIONS, SLICED LONG DIAGONALLY
Instructions
- COMBINE ONE TABLESPOON VEGETABLE OIL IN A MEDIUM SAUCE PAN
- ADD GARLIC AND GINGER AND STIR, LET FRY FOR 30 SECONDS TO 1 MINUTE
- POUR IN SOY SAUCE, WATER, AND BROWN SUGAR
- BRING TO A BOIL AND SIMMER UNTIL IT BEGINS TO THICKEN, ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES
- WHILE SAUCE IS SIMMERING, PLACE SLICED STEAK AND CORNSTARCH INTO A ZIPLOC BAG
- SHAKE TO COVER AND USING YOUR HANDS SEPARATE ALL STEAK PIECES SO THEY ARE ALL COVERED IN CORNSTARCH
- LET SIT 10-15 MINUTES
- HEAT 1 CUP VEGGIE OIL IN A LARGE PAN OVER MEDIUM HIGH HEAT UNTIL HOT
- ADD STEAK AND COOK BRIEFLY, 1 MINUTE ON EACH SIDE UNTIL JUST BROWNED, MAKE SURE TO FLIP
- WORKING QUICKLY, REMOVE EXCESS OIL
- POUR IN HEATED SOY SAUCE MIXTURE AND LET SIMMER FOR 1 MINUTE
- MAKE SURE TO STIR
- GARNISH WITH RED PEPPER FLAKES AND GREEN ONIONS
- SERVE OVER INSTANT POT WHITE RICE
