COFFEE CRUMB CAKE

Let me introduce you to this awesome Coffee Crumb Cake that comes with a little bit of history.

This recipe originated in 1954 and is the Los Angeles Unified School District Recipe. How cool is that?!?
It’s actually called “Old Fashioned Coffee Cake” and I’m sharing it with you today!

I first heard about this recipe from my co-worked Dario as we were discussing tasty things we had made recently. He told me how many memories he has eating this when he was young and now making it for himself and his family!
I just knew I had to bake this for myself and for all of you!
And let me just tell you how good of an idea that was.

From scratch cake batter is made with buttermilk and half the crumb topping actually mixed in. The rest of the crumbly sugary mixture is sprinkled on top and baked until golden. Creating the most perfect textured cake that’s soft and light but layered.
The ingredient list is short which makes this easy and quick even though it’s all from scratch. AKA exactly what you should be doing this weekend.
