BABY FRIENDLY BANANA BREAD
BABY FRIENDLY BANANA BREAD is more than baby friendly, it’s everyone friendly!
Jump to RecipeCombining sweet overripe bananas with coconut flakes, ground almonds, eggs, coconut oil, and a little bit of vanilla makes this bread completely sugar free.
We love that this bread is not only sugar free and baby friendly but it’s also a great healthier banana bread option. Working with the natural sugar in bananas, especially when they’re blackened, actually makes this bread taste sweeter than you might think.
This Baby Friendly Banana Bread can also be made gluten free as it only has a small amount of flour (only 1/2 cup). We used all purpose flour but you can use whole wheat, almond flour, oat flour, or even rice flour.
It does have eggs so this recipe is not a vegan one, unfortunately.
A sprinkle of cinnamon on top of a whole sliced banana gives this bread a wonderful aromatic flavor.
Make this recipe into a large loaf pan or three mini loaves as seen here.
We made this bread for Ollie when he was ten months old and he loved it.
It was a struggle to find a banana bread recipe that had no added sugar (we tried to be really strict about no added sugars for Ollie until he turned one). But every recipe we came across included sugars, honey, or maple syrup until we found this one on Pinterest.
Once it’s all baked and warm, adding a little unsalted butter on top is the perfect accompaniment.
For snacking or eating brunch these little loaves are the best size too, especially for little baby fingers. Just slice into little strips across the width for baby self feeding. Or cut into little bite sized pieces once they’re old enough and using their pincer grasp. All our feeding knowledge and how to’s were found on Solid Starts, they have a wonderful app for all sizing on how to cut babies foods at different ages! Cannot recommend them and their team of experts enough.
If you’re looking to freeze these loaves, they freeze perfectly. Slice beforehand so it’s easy to defrost them piece by piece.
