MARINATED GOATS CHEESE BALLS
Around the Holidays I am always looking for something new and easy to whip up for the Christmas parties.
These Marinated Goats Cheese Balls were the winner for our first Christmas party this year.
I have my go to recipes but I absolutely love trying new ones and adding them to my repertoire.
Salty or sweet appetizers are my usual fav but I love trying new dessert recipes as well, I’m not really into those main courses though. I leave those for others.
Clearly this salty olive oil crostini won the competition this year for my new recipe.
I’m sure you know how much I am obsessed with lightly toasted crostini. Oh my goodness give me cheese,
toasted crostini, and a little sauce and this girl in heaven.
Another recent crostini win was this flavorful Brie, Apple, Walnut Honey Drizzled Crostini.
These Marinated Goats Cheese Balls are simple, easy, and so quick to prepare.
For one of those nights where you have zero time to prepare your appetizer and zero time to cook it, this is the appetizer for you.
With these Goat Cheese Balls you top them with freshly chopped herbs,
red pepper flakes for some spiciness and drizzle them in tons of olive oil.
The best thing about these Marinated Goats Cheese Balls is smearing the olive oil thats spiced with red pepper and
flavored with herbs all over the toasted crostini and enjoying the simple yet amazing aromas that fill your mouth.
This is totally a win win app.
The original recipe I found on Pinterest specified that I marinate these little balls for up to THREE DAYS.
Yeah no, remember when I said this was a super easy simple awesome recipe?!?!
That does not include marinating it for three days, you have to be super prepared for that to be accomplished.
I was able to get myself together and marinate these over night.
That was good enough.
The one thing I haven’t gone on about is the way the creamy savory goats cheese tastes, phew that is gold right there.
Olive oil and goats cheese are the best combination in the world.
Especially when it’s expensive olive oil, you need to buy good quality olive oil for this.
Or don’t, it will still be just as good.
- 2 Goats Cheese Logs
- Fresh Parsley
- Fresh Basil
- Fresh Dill
- Freeze dried Chives (or fresh)
- 1 cup Olive Oil (good quality)
- 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 Baguette
- Find a good flat platter, make sure the edges go up and are not completely flat.
- Cut the two logs into 5 even pieces, take each piece and roll into balls with your hands (you can wear gloves if needed). Place each goats cheese ball on the platter.
- Chop parsley, basil, and dill. Cover the goats cheese with chopped herbs to your liking. Sprinkle with chives and red pepper flakes.
- Pour olive oil over platter. If you need more olive oil just use more to cover the balls.
- Marinate overnight or up to three days. Turn the balls over once a day.
- Toast sliced baguette until lightly crispy and serve smeared with goats cheese and olive oil.
The only thing I could add to this recipe to improve it would be flavored olive oil, drizzle with that for flavor explosion!
